This is what happens when “just toast” gets dressed up and stays out too late.
Ingredients
- 2 thick slices of sourdough or country bread
- 1 cup whole milk ricotta
- 2 oranges, sliced into thin rounds (peel on)
- 2 tbsp honey
- Olive oil
- Flaky salt
- Fresh cracked black pepper
- Fresh thyme leaves or chili flakes
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium-high and add a drizzle of olive oil.
- Lay in the orange slices and let them char—don’t move them too much. You want deep caramelized edges, almost burnt in spots.
- Drizzle honey over the oranges while they’re still in the pan and let it bubble and thicken slightly. Remove from heat.
- Toast your bread until golden and crisp.
- Spread ricotta generously over each slice.
- Top with the warm charred oranges and all that sticky gooey honey glaze.
- Finish with flaky salt, aggressive black pepper, and herbs or chili flakes if you’re feeling spicy!
